Meet Executive Director
James W. "Pete" Woods

Pete Woods is a nationally recognized advertising and marketing professional who brings over three decades of experience advising organizations on the building and nurturing of their brands to targeted audiences. In addition to extensive business experience, Woods holds a BFA in studio art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a talented sculptor in his own right. Pete and his wife Tricia reside in Mooresville, NC and have three children, Alex, Katie, and Sarah.

“I feel fully supported by The Hiddenite Center’s excellent Staff and Board of Directors as we work together to sustain the quality of programming that this region has come to know and depend upon even as we build a greater awareness for all that the organization has to offer,” Woods went on to say. “It is our obligation and our privilege to ensure that Hiddenite Center programs provide fresh and relevant arts opportunities for diverse audiences. Visit the beautifully restored, century-old Lucas Mansion; now home to a dynamic folk and cultural arts center.

The Hiddenite Center, Inc. is a folklife and cultural arts educational and exhibition center located in Hiddenite, North Carolina. A three-story Victorian house has been restored to house galleries and offices. The Center is designed to afford experiential opportunities for Western North Carolina and serves as a prism to capture the energies contained within the area. We invite you to enjoy!

Handmade Holiday Workshops
Saturday, November 29th

In preparation for the holiday season, The Hiddenite Center is pleased to announce the return of their Handmade Holiday Workshops, Saturday, November 29, 2014. This fun and interactive workshop series will include classes in chair caning and Christmas wreath making.

Annual Christmas at the Lucas Mansion
Friends Open House
Featuring: “Christmas Reel to Real”
December 4th

On Thursday, December 4, 2014, The Hiddenite Center will host their annual Christmas at the Lucas Mansion Friends Open House. Hiddenite Center members, known as “Friends of the Hiddenite Center,” will gather from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm for a special evening that includes guided tours of the Center’s museum and holiday decorations, festive live music, heavy hors d’ oeuvres and community fellowship.

Carolina Style Chorus of
Sweet Adelines International
Returns to Hiddenite Center for
Holiday Dinner Theater Performance
Thursday, December 11th

The Hiddenite Center is pleased to welcome the Carolina Style Chorus of Sweet Adelines International back to Alexander County for a special, holiday themed dinner theater performance. The award-winning vocalists of the Carolina Style Chorus will perform at the Hiddenite Center’s Educational Complex.
